What’s yoga? Yoga is a holistic practise that brings balance to the body, mind and spirit. Yoga has so many benefits that there is something in it for everyone. Some of the many benefits include strength, flexibility, balance and relaxation.
If I’m a beginner. Do I need to start with the beginner’s course? The beginners course is a wonderful start to your yoga journey as it will set you up with a firm foundation. However you can still start with our regular classes as we try and make all classes accessible to beginners.
What are good classes to start with? If you read our class descriptions you can see what specific class is most suited to what you are looking for in yoga. However any of the Gentle Flow or Simple Yoga classes are a great way to start.
What do I need to bring/know for my first class? Just wear something comfy, and bring a water bottle. Some people like to bring a towel, however it isn’t necessary. We provide mats and all necessary props. It is best to come about ten minutes early just so the teacher can set you up. Let the teacher know if you have any injuries or concerns so they can accommodate you.
Do I need to book? No need to book into our regular classes. However you will need to book for speciality classes such as pregnancy, kids yoga classes or the beginner’s course.
I’m inflexible can I still do yoga? This is a common question. If you’re inflexible then you definitely can and should do yoga. No-one starts off yoga being able to do super flexy poses, it’s a journey and anyone can do yoga regardless of fitness or age.
Do I need to be spiritual to do yoga? Not at all – yoga is a self-practise which means you get from it what you want. Teachers vary and some will focus a lot on the spiritual side and some not at all. It’s important to find what works for you, however even if you find a teacher who has a lot of emphasis on the spiritual doesn’t mean you need to follow that, look at what’s behind the messages.
How often should I practise? Even just getting into the habit of practising once a week is really beneficial, however ideally practising 2-3 times a week is recommended to truly appreciate the beenfits.
